Round Up: Weeds and Pests vs. Health and Vitality

If you have never considered the correlation between illness and toxins, please read this post, listen to the interview and watch the videos.

One of the most heinous examples of corruption I can cite is the ongoing manufacturing, marketing and sale of the herbicide, Roundup. It is used on farmland and residential land across this great nation.

Listen to this interview by Carol Grieve’ of veterinarian , Dr. Don Huber entitled, “GMOs and Glyphosate and Their Threat to Humanity.

The active ingredient in Round Up is glyphosate. It has not been adequately studied by the biotech industry, and those that have been done have had questionable controls, so the validity is questionable.

Glyphosate is chronic or cumulative, not acute. If it were acute, those who ingested it would die instantly—like eating cyanide. Eating glyphosate is like smoking cigarettes. You can get away with it for quite a while before you end up facing the grim reaper.

300 million pounds of glyphosate is applied indiscriminately from industrial to residential users.

Glyphosate is a chelator and binds metal ions (i.e. essential mineral nutrients such as iron, copper, zinc, manganese, cobalt, etc.) in a unique manner that does not turn loose of them and so the nutrients are not physiologically available nutritionally. I have heard that it may be responsible for the growing number of people– like me– whose vitamin D levels are dangerously low. (Few people spend more time under the rays of the sun than I, yet my doctor has me taking 10,000 units daily!)

A patented antibiotic, glyphosate destroys our GI tract bacteria. This compromises proper digestion. Feedlot animals are fed frightening volumes of GMO feed from crops hosed with glyphosate. In short order, the digestive system is compromised, the good bacteria killed off. In their absence, pathogens blow up into problems, and the animals are then treated with antibiotics. Glyphosate is extremely toxic to the beneficial organisms in our environment as well.

People my age remember the environmental impact DDT had on bird populations in the 60’s and 70’s. But most people do not realize that DDT pales in comparison to the toxicity of Glyphosate. Glyphosate may very well be the single most toxic chemical we have ever used because glyphosate impacts nutrition and even the entire biome that we rely on for survival.

We are now seeing the long-term effects of the chelation and antibiotic action of glyphosate: nutrition, health, disease. We have sacrificed an entire generation of children:

By 2025 it is expected that 1 in 2 children will be autistic.

Look at what has happened in the past 18 years since GMOs were introduced. Today major modern diseases are reaching epidemic proportions—and these have an epidemiological track that fits GMO and glyphosate.

Dow Chemical has introduced GMO crops that are resistant to 2,4-D. We know of the damage caused by 2,4-D and other monoxide herbicide, but 24D has a much milder effect than glyphosate. When plants are resistant to herbicides, they have become systemic in the plant. They cannot be washed off because they are systemic in the plant itself. When you combine 2,4-D and glyphosate, there is a synergistic effect, that can conspire to make the toxicity over 1000 times more toxic.

One of the most graphic examples of “synergistic toxicity” I know of was a study where 100 rats were fed lead salts until one died. Another set was fed mercury salts until one died. A third set was fed the same amount of lead and mercury salts that killed the two rats… but having eaten both lead and mercury ALL the rats of the third set died.

We slather ourselves with chemcials—soaps, antibacterial soaps, make up, sunscreen— we apply toxins all around us – household cleaners, weed & feed, moss killer, ant killer… but we rarely think about what happens to us, our kids or our pets. Few consider the synergistic implications of such exposures.

That glyphosate is found in higher quantities in human breast milk than urine tells us that it accumulates in the body, much like DDT. The levels of glyphosate are 100 to 1000 times higher than is required to kill beneficial bacteria. The implications are bone-chilling: nutritional needs, brain health immune functions, nutrition functions, in the absence of these- pathogens bloom.

These impact the endocrine system (pituitary, thyroid, hormones, brain) and can have lethal results. Dr. Huber notes that the rise of SIDS as well as unexpected reactions to early vaccination programs may be directly related to the accumulation of glyphosate. He cites glyphosate as a primary cause of Colony Collapse Disorder in honeybee populations as it decimates the friendly bacteria in the bees’ intestines, causes malnutrition of manganese, cobalt, B12, zinc, copper and micronutrients, and because of endocrine disruption, causes disorientation.

There are steps you can take to minimize the accumulation of glyphosate:

  • Do not feed your dog glyphosate-treated food. Remember: If glyphosate accumulates in human breast milk, we can probably assume that we will find it in the meat we eat. So, chicken, turkey, pork, beef and other meats raised on GMO feeds (which is all of them unless they are organic-fed) will most likely contain glyphosate.
  • Do not use Round Up or glyphosate products. There are alternatives to chemical warfare with regard to weeds. Use safe solutions such as vinegar, baking soda, and even boiling water.
